Sec. 27.5.
"Interstitial monitoring" means a release detection method that continuously monitors the interstitial space of an underground storage tank and piping. The term includes only those release detection systems that are capable of detecting a breach in the primary containment of the underground storage tank and piping component being monitored before the regulated substance or petroleum stored is released to the environment.
