Section 5-1 - Police chief executive training program

Sec. 1.

Every person appointed as a police chief of any city or any town having a metropolitan police force must, within six (6) months of initially taking office, successfully complete the police chief executive training program mandated by IC 5-2-1-9 unless:

(1) a course is not offered within the six (6) month period immediately following the date that the police chief initially takes office; or

(2) space in the program is not available at a time that will allow the police chief to complete the program within six (6) months of the date the police chief initially takes office.
