Sec. 2.

(a) DNA samples shall be collected in a medically approved manner by a physician, registered nurse, licensed vocational nurse, licensed clinical technologist, or other person at the direction of a physician or under a protocol approved by a physician.

(b) Procedures used by the department of correction to extract and obtain liquid blood samples shall be with the approval and at the direction of the medical director of the department of correction.
