Sec. 9.
(a) Written policy, procedure, and practice provide the following:
(1) Detoxification from alcohol, opiates,
hypnotics, other stimulants, and sedative hypnotic drugs is conducted in a
hospital or community detoxification center.
(2) Juveniles with a blood alcohol content of
.08 or higher shall be diverted to a hospital or community detoxification
center and receive medical clearance prior to being admitted into a detention
center.
(3) Detention center staff
may require medical clearance prior to admission when juveniles show signs of
physical impairment or evidence suggests that excessive use of drugs and
alcohol, or a combination of both, exists.
(4) Specific guidelines are followed for the
treatment and observation of individuals manifesting symptoms of intoxication
or withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs.
(b) This is a mandatory standard.
