Section 8-17 - Daily health care requests

Sec. 17.

(a) Written policy, procedure, and practice provide that there is a process for all juveniles to initiate daily requests for health care services. All health care requests are triaged and reviewed daily by a qualified health care professional, health care practitioner, or health trained staff.

(b) A priority system is used to schedule health care services and address health care requests for conditions that are routine, urgent, and emergent.

(c) Health care services are available to juveniles at the facility:

(1) in a clinical setting at least five (5) days a week; and

(2) provided by a qualified health care professional or health care practitioner.

(d) A health care practitioner is available at least once a week to respond to juvenile health concerns.

(e) When facilities do not have full-time qualified health care professionals, health trained staff coordinate the health care delivery services under the joint supervision of the health care authority and facility administrator.
