Section 8-1 - Health care authority

Sec. 1.
(a) Written policy, procedure, and practice provide that the facility has a designated health care authority with responsibility for health care pursuant to a written agreement, contract, or job description.
(b) Such health care responsibilities shall include the following:
(c) The health care authority may be a physician, health administrator, or health agency. When the authority is other than a physician, final clinical judgment rests with a single, designated physician who is either a medical doctor, M.D., or doctor of osteopathy, D.O.
(d) The health care authority is authorized and responsible for making decisions about the deployment of health care resources and the day-to-day operations of the health care services program.
(e) This is a mandatory standard.
