Section 1-4 - Meter records and reports

Sec. 4.

(a) Whenever any meter is tested, a record shall be preserved containing:

(1) the information necessary for identifying that particular meter;

(2) the reason for making the test;

(3) the reading of the meter before the test;

(4) the result of the test; and

(5) all data taken at the time of the test; in sufficiently complete form to permit the convenient checking of the methods employed.

(b) Permanent records shall:

(1) be kept;

(2) be systematically arranged; and

(3) contain for each meter owned or used by any water utility the:
(A) year of purchase;

(B) information specifically identifying the meter; and

(C) record of the last test to which the meter was subjected, including:
(i) the dates; and

(ii) general results; of the test.

These requirements apply to all meters purchased after the effective date of these rules and to all other meters insofar as the information is available. To the extent practicable, utilities are encouraged to keep such records in a searchable electronic format.

(c) If required by the commission, annual tabulations of the results of all meter tests shall be made, arranged according to types and sizes of meters and intervals of tests or as the commission may request.
