Part 520 - THE TREATMENT OF CHOKING VICTIMS
Section 520.20 - Definitions

The following are terms frequently appearing in this Part:

"Act" - The Choke-Saving Methods Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1991, ch. 561/2, pars 601 et seq.) [410 ILCS 10 ].

"Activate EMS System" - Contact the emergency medical resource in the community by the most effective method, such as phoning 911, the local fire department or rescue squad.

"Food Service Establishment" - Any fixed or mobile establishment serving food to the public for consumption on the premises. The term does not include establishments operated on a temporary basis by charitable or non-profit organizations. (Section 2 of the Act)

"Placards" - Posters that depict simple instructions in words and illustrations that are not offensive to restaurant patrons for the emergency care of choking victims.
