Section 653.107 - Booster Pumping Stations

a) Construction shall conform to the Standards and Section 653.118.

b) Automatic control equipment shall be installed to prevent the pump from causing a vacuum and/or lowering water pressure in any part of the distribution system to less than 20 psi as measured at ground surface.

c) Pressure for portions of a distribution system served by a booster pump station as required by Section 653.106 shall be provided during periods when the booster station is not in operation.

d) One of the following shall be installed if adequate pressure will not be available in any part of the system:

1) hydropneumatic storage designed in accordance with Section 653.109 on the discharge side of the booster pump station; or

2) elevated storage.

e) The pump shall be accessible for servicing and repair.
