Section 201.620 - Requirements for Use of Diesel Fuel and Refinery Fuel Gas

a) For a PBR boiler to burn diesel fuel as a backup fuel, the owner or operator must:
1)
Comply with the applicable provisions of 35 Ill. Adm. Code 214. Subpart B or D
when burning diesel fuel;
2) Comply
with the particulate emission standard in 35 Ill. Adm. Code
212.206
when diesel fuel is burned;
3)
Maintain records that include the following information:
A) Date, time, and duration of any period
when diesel fuel was fired in the boiler, the amount of diesel fuel that was
fired, and the reason diesel fuel was fired, e.g., gas curtailment, gas supply
interruption, or periodic operational testing;
B) The total duration of periodic operational
testing or other activity while firing diesel fuel (number of hours of
operation per calendar year); and
C) The actual SO2
emissions of the boiler from use of diesel fuel (tons/month and tons/year),
with supporting calculations.
b) For a PBR boiler to burn refinery fuel gas, the owner or operator must use fuel gas at a petroleum refinery from a fuel gas system that is subject to and meeting the requirements for compliance with the limits for H2S content of fuel gas in 40 CFR 60.102a(g)(1)(ii), as incorporated by reference in Section 201.104.
