MEDICAL AND DENTAL FOR CHILDREN IN OUT-OF-HOME CARE
Section 16.06.01.451 - DRIVERS' TRAINING, DRIVERS' LICENSES, AND PERMITS FOR CHILDREN IN ALTERNATE CARE

No Department employee or foster parent is allowed to sign for any foster child's driver's license or permit without written authorization from the Child and Family Services Program Manager. Any Department employee or foster parent signing for a foster child's driver's license or permit without the approval of the Child and Family Services Program Manager assumes full personal responsibility and liability for any driving related damages that may be assessed against the child. Those damages will not be covered by the Department's insurance. (3-15-22)
01. Payments by Department. Subject to existing appropriations, the Department may make payments for driver's training, driver's license, and permits for a child in the Department's legal custody when driver's training or obtaining a driver's license or permit is part of the child's Independent Living Plan. In addition, subject to existing appropriations, the Department may reimburse a foster parent, licensed by the Department, for the cost of procuring owner's or operator's insurance listing a child residing in their home as a named insured with respect to the operation of a motor vehicle subject to the limits exclusive of interest and costs with respect to each motor vehicle as provided in Section 49-117, Idaho Code. 02. Payment by Parent(s) or Legal Guardian(s). The parent(s) or legal guardian(s) of children in foster care may authorize drivers' training, provide payment and sign for drivers' licenses and permits. (3-15-22)
