If any incident of child abuse, neglect, or abandonment is substantiated through a safety or comprehensive assessment, or both, or during the provision of services, and cannot be resolved through informal processes or voluntary agreement that is adequate for protection of the child, the Department will request the prosecuting attorney to file a Child Protective Act petition. (3-15-22)
