Section 15.04.01.120 - LIMITED SERVICE APPOINTMENTS

01. Designation. Classified positions expected to be of limited duration due to funding or nature of the position or project must be identified and designated in advance of announcement. (3-31-22)

02. Permanent Status and Expedited Layoff. Employees appointed under limited-service appointments have permanent classified status after successful completion of probation. These employees have the same rights and responsibilities as other permanent employees but may be subject to expedited layoff pursuant to Rule 140.01.c. (3-31-22)

03. Limited Service Agreement. Appointing authorities making limited-service appointments must prepare, no later than the date of appointment, a written agreement for signature of both the employee and appointing authority describing the non-career nature of the appointment, potential for layoff, and the duration the employee may expect to work. Renewals and updated agreements are required every two (2) years. A copy of the agreement must be kept in the employee's personnel file. (4-6-23)
