Section 6-83-66 - Damage to subsurface installation

Any excavator conducting an excavation that results in contact with, unintentional exposure of, or damage to, a subsurface installation shall, before continuing with the excavation work in the immediate area of the subsurface installation:

(1) Immediately call or notify the facility operator of the location, specifying the nature and scope of the damage and proceed to undertake any reasonable measures requested by the operator or dictated by the circumstances surrounding the incident;

(2) Allow a reasonable period of time, consistent with industry practice, for any necessary repairs to be made to the subsurface installation; and

(3) If an emergency situation results, immediately call 911.
