Section 19-128-5 - Installation of traffic control devices; nonconformity

(a) All traffic control devices installed shall conform to the most current editions or revisions of "The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways."

(b) The use of traffic control devices not in conformity with the publication specified in subsection (a) of this section shall be permissible where location or other conditions dictate; provided that the essential elements of shape, color, and indication sequence are adhered to.

(c) Deviations from the standards applicable to traffic control devices may be made for the purposes of experimentation directed toward improvement of techniques or design upon the recommendation of the highways division or the appropriate county agency, and upon approval of the director.
