Section 17-800-27 - Administration of medication

(a) When medication prescribed by a health care professional is administered by the provider or provider's staff:
(1) The child's parent or
guardian shall submit to the provider written permission from the child's
parent or guardian to administer medication;
(2) The medication shall be kept in the
original container bearing the prescription label that shows a current date,
the health care professional's directions for use, and the child's name;
and
(3) The medication shall be
kept out of the reach of the children and shall be returned to parent or
guardian when no longer in use.
(b) When over-the-counter medication is administered by the provider or provider's staff:
(1) The child's parent or guardian shall
submit to the provider written permission to administer medication;
and
(2) The child's parent,
guardian, or health care provider shall submit to the provider written
directions for the administration of the medication.
