Section 17-655-19 - Information on requirement for SSN and use of SSN

(a) The department shall notify the applicant or recipient that the furnishing of a SSN is a condition of eligibility for the following programs:

(1) Food stamps;

(2) AFDC; and

(3) GA.

(b) The department shall notify the applicant or recipient that the SSN shall be used in the administration of the program to:

(1) Verify income, eligibility, and benefits through computer matches authorized under the income and eligibility verification systems for the programs identified in subsection (a); and

(2) Complete computer matching to prevent duplicate participation or assistance, to facilitate mass changes in federal benefits, and to verify the accuracy and reliability of the information provided by the household.

(c) To the extent determined necessary by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the United States Department of Health and Human Services (USDHHS), the department shall have access to information regarding applicants and recipients who receive SSI benefits under title XVI of the Social Security Act, ( 42 U.S.C. §§1381 - 1383 ), to determine the household's eligibility to receive assistance and the amount of assistance, or to verify information related to the benefits of the household. The department shall use the SDX to the maximum extent possible.
