Section 16-89-34 - Types of approval

(a) Approval is a process established to ensure that educational programs meet minimum standards in preparing safe practitioners as set forth in chapter 457, HRS, and this chapter.

(b) Approval shall be granted when all requirements of chapter 457, HRS, this chapter, and an accrediting body recognized by the board have been met.

(c) Probationary approval shall be granted if the board determines that any approved nursing education program is not maintaining the standards required by law and by the board, notice thereof in writing specifying the discrepancies shall be immediately given to the institution conducting the program. A program which fails to correct these conditions to the satisfaction of the board within a reasonable time may be subject to losing board approval after a hearing held in conformance with chapter 91.
