Section 16-601-148 - Action on petition

(a) The commission shall, within thirty days after the filing of a petition for rulemaking, either deny the petition in writing, stating its reason for its denial, or initiate proceedings in accordance with this subchapter and section 91-3, HRS.

(b) A petition that fails in any respect to comply with this subchapter or to disclose sufficient reasons to justify the rulemaking proceeding will be denied. Denial of a petition shall not prevent the commission from acting on its own motion on any matter disclosed in the petition.
