Section 13-5-11 - Protection (P) subzone

Current through January, 2025

(a) The objective of this subzone is to protect valuable resources in designated areas such as restricted water-sheds, marine, plant, and wildlife sanctuaries, significant historic, archaeological, geological, and volcanological features and sites, and other designated unique areas.

(b) The (P) subzone shall encompass:

(1) Lands and waters necessary for protecting watersheds, water sources, and water supplies;

(2) Lands and waters necessary for the preservation and enhancement of designated historic or archaeological sites and designated sites of unique physiographic significance;

(3) Areas necessary for preserving natural ecosystems of native plants, fish, and wildlife, particularly those which are endangered; and

(4) All land encompassing the Northwestern Hawaiian islands except Midway island.

(c) Identified land uses in the protective (P) subzone are restricted to those listed in section 13-5-22.
