Rule 391-4-7-.01 - Purpose

The purpose of these rules is to implement the authority of the Board of Natural Resources to promulgate rules and regulations for wildlife protection, preservation, and management pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 27-1-6(1)(B); to protect natural areas as provided by the Georgia Natural Areas Act, O.C.G.A. § 12-3-90et seq.; and pursuant to O.C.G.A. § 27-1-33; and for the management and use of heritage preserves as provided by O.C.G.A. § 12-3-74(a)(1). The purpose also includes the implementation of the Governor's dedication of the islands named in Rule 391-4-7-.03 as heritage preserves.
