Rule 160-1-4-.320 - Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership Grant

1. Purpose of Grant. The purpose of the Georgia Parent Mentor Partnership Grant is to provide funding to local educational agencies ("LEA") for parent mentors to support family engagement with families who have students with Individualized Education Programs ("IEP").

2. Terms and Conditions. Grants are awarded through a competitive process. Eligible LEAs must submit an application and a budget to support the proposed expenditures. During the grant period, grant recipients must comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act ("IDEA") and all federal and state rules and regulations implementing IDEA. Grant recipients must also produce a report at the conclusion of the grant period. Grant funds must be used to support parent mentor salary, travel or conference costs, professional learning opportunities, supplies, or any combination thereof to support family engagement among families of individual students with IEPs. Grant award funds are one-time funds and must be used during the fiscal year in which the funds are awarded. There is no allowability for carryover.

3. Eligible Recipients. All LEAs are eligible to apply.

4. Criteria for Award. Applications are reviewed by the Georgia Department of Education for adherence to the terms and conditions described above as well as required documentation and evidence of support. Funding will be awarded based on rank (the highest score first) and available funding.
