Section 63M-2.0032 - Role of the Superintendant/Facility Director in Healthcare Services

(1) The Facility Superintendent or Program Director is responsible for:
(a) Ensuring that
the Designated Health Authority is clearly informed of all of the department's
health care requirements at the time of the negotiation of the
agreement/contract. This responsibility can be delegated to the Facility
Superintendent or Program Director Designee and shared with supervisors at the
Regional level;
(b) Ensuring a
licensed general hospital is available to provide emergency services on a
24-hour per day basis.
(c) Ensuring
adherence to delivery of physician on-call medical services, consultative
medical referrals, regularly scheduled physician hours, access to a licensed
health care professional and clinic hours, treatment protocols, access to
Emergency Medical Services and 24-hour episodic care, and emergency
drills.
(2) There shall be communication, at a minimum of every other week between the Facility Superintendent/Program Director and the licensed health care professional staff to review important medical issues pertaining to youth at the facility.
