5.1 Limited license holders may practice under general supervision and subject to the provisions of 24 Del.C. § 1132.
5.2 Licensed dental hygienists must practice under general supervision subject to the following conditions:
5.2.1 Advance Notice to Patient - The patient
is notified, as soon as it is known, that the dentist will not be present, and
is given the option to reschedule to a time when the dentist will be present in
the office.
5.2.2 Dentist Review of
Records - The dentist shall review the treatment records of each patient prior
to and following the patient treatment.
5.2.3 The dentist must perform at least 1
clinical examination of the patient within a 12-month period.
5.2.4 Patient Contraindications - Patients
for whom it is medically or dentally contraindicated, will not be scheduled
when the dentist is not present.
5.2.5 Office Requirements - A second office
employee shall be present in the treatment facility at all times when patient
care is performed. This is both for safety and security reasons.
