Universal Citation: 2 DE Admin Code 2B.72

Current through Register Vol. 28, No. 3, September 1, 2024

Guidance:

01 (DE Revision) NO TEXTING AND HAND HELD CELL PHONE (SR1-20-DE) signs should be located at all major points of entry into the state to inform motorists of their responsibilities under §4176C of Title 21 of the Delaware Code, related to the use of electronic devices while driving.

Support:

02 (DE Revision) Major points of entry include Interstate, U.S. Route, and State Route crossings of the state line.

Standard:

03 (DE Revision) If used, SR1-20-DE signs shall have an informational plaque at the top of the sign with the black legend, STATE LAW, on a yellow background. The body of the sign shall consist of a black legend and border on a white background with a contrast panel with a white legend on a black background (see Figure 2B-33).

Option:

04 (DE Revision) When installed along multi-lane divided highways, SR1-20-DE signs may be installed on both the right-hand and left-hand sides of the roadway when adequate space is available.

Guidance:

05 (DE Revision) If used, SR1-20-DE signs should be located near the state line.

Option

06 Since SR1-20-DE signs do not pertain to a specific site condition or location, they may be located in open areas away from other traffic control devices to more easily attract the attention of motorists if sufficient space near the state line does not exist.

07 (DE Revision) SR1-20-DE signs may be located at other locations along major highways including Interstates, U.S. Routes, and State Routes.

08 (DE Revision) SR1-20-DE signs may be installed on roads at the municipal boundaries of cities, towns, and municipalities at the request of the local government.

08A (DE Revision) A supplemental IT CAN WAIT ! USE SERVICE AREA (SR1-20P-DE) plaque (see Figure 2B-33) may be used with the SR1-20-DE sign in advance of services areas.

Standard:

09 (DE Revision) The cost to install and maintain SR1-20-DE signs requested by local governments shall be the responsibility of the local government requesting the signs.
