Section 13b-17-302 - Office of the commissioner of transportation

The Commissioner's staff is responsible for:

(a) insuring compliance with affirmative action and equal opportunity laws and regulations in all operational areas and in all employment areas for both current and prospective employees;

(b) coordinating all legislative activity in the Department;

(c) gathering opinions of the public on the conduct of affairs of the Department and keeping the public informed through the media of the activities, progress, plans, public hearings, and services rendered by all bureaus of the Department;

(d) providing the Commissioner with timely and effective financial and operational internal audits and reviews of all aspects of Department operations and providing security related functions;

(e) coordinating all activities of the State Traffic Commission which is composed of the commissioners of Transportation, Motor Vehicles, and Public Safety;

(f) administering consultant selection panel and negotiation panel activities; and

(g) operation of the Department of Transportation Library.
