8 CCR 1202-5 - STORAGE AND HANDLING OF ANHYDROUS AMMONIA
Section 12 - ADDITIONAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

12.1. The following minimum requirements of equipment shall be on hand at all places wherever Anhydrous Ammonia is handled or transported, if not otherwise prescribed in these Rules:

12.1.1. One pair of tight fitting goggles or full face shield.

12.1.2. One pair of protective gloves.

12.1.3. A container of not less than five gallons of readily available clean water.

12.2. It shall be considered a violation if, at any time in the handling of Anhydrous Ammonia, the prescribed safety equipment is not worn or used.

12.3. Agricultural anhydrous ammonia tank cars and transport trucks shall be unloaded only through permanent, approved unloading sites and into permanently installed bulk storage tanks, except as otherwise provided below.

12.3.1. Agricultural anhydrous ammonia may be unloaded directly from a railroad tank car into a U.S. Department of Transportation approved over-the-road transport truck of more than 3500 gallons capacity only for the purpose of transport to bulk storage tanks which do not have access to a railroad siding.

12.3.2. Tank cars and transport trucks may be unloaded at permanent, approved unloading sites into portable acid-fertilizer conversion units for the purpose of producing liquid fertilizer, if such conversion units have approved, automatic, normally closed valves in the line connecting the source tank and the conversion unit.
