Section 20225 - Withdrawal, Substitution or Discharge of Attorney or Representative

An attorney or representative who has made a general appearance for a party in a proceeding governed by this Chapter may withdraw as follows:

(a) upon a written consent executed by both the attorney or representative and by the client or the attorney or representative who will substitute into the proceedings which shall be filed with the executive secretary; or

(b) by the order of the executive secretary or the Board, if the matter is then pending before it, upon the application of the attorney or representative, or of the client, or of the new attorney or representative, after notice from one to the other. Withdrawal or substitution shall be permitted unless to do so would result in serious prejudice to the other parties to the proceeding. Any application or consent filed pursuant to (a) or (b) above shall contain the address of the client or new attorney or representative for the service of subsequent pleadings and papers. Any application filed pursuant to (b) above shall, without compromising the confidentiality of the attorney-client relationship, if any, state in general terms the reason for the application.
