Section 3470 - Longshoring Operations in the Vicinity of Repair and Maintenance Work

(a) Longshoring operations shall not be carried on:
When noise-producing maintenance, construction or repair work interferes with communication of warnings or instructions.
(2) Where employees are exposed to injurious
light rays, hot metal, or sparks, any of which result from welding or
cutting.
(3) Where employees are
exposed to unsafe concentrations of dust or vapors from sandblasting or spray
painting.
(4) At any time that it
is ascertained that the atmosphere in which employees would be working is
immediately dangerous to life, or if the atmosphere becomes immediately
dangerous to life during operations.
