Current through Register 2024 Notice Reg. No. 38, September 20, 2024

On February 13, 2020, the Regional Water Quality Control Board, Los Angeles Region (Los Angeles Water Board) adopted Resolution No. R20-001 to amend the Water Quality Control Plan for the Los Angeles Region (Basin Plan) by updating the bacteria objectives for fresh, estuarine and marine waters designated for water contact recreation-- based on the Statewide Bacteria Provisions adopted by the State Water Board in 2018. The State Water Resources Control Board approved the amendment under Resolution No. 2020-0017, on May 19, 2020.

Resolution No. 20-001 updates the Basin Plan's water quality objectives for bacteria, that apply to fresh, estuarine and marine waters designated for water contact recreation (REC-1), by removing the current objectives and replacing them with those provided in the statewide provisions. This update is consistent with the intent of the statewide provisions and avoids any misperceptions as to which REC-1 numeric objectives for bacteria are applicable in the Los Angeles Region.
