Section 1206.5 - Management of Communicable Diseases in a Custody Setting

(a) The responsible physician, in conjunction with the facility administrator and the county health officer, shall develop a written plan to address the identification, treatment, control and follow-up management of tuberculosis and other communicable diseases. The plan shall cover the intake screening procedures, identification of relevant symptoms, referral for a medical evaluation, treatment responsibilities during incarceration and coordination with public health officials for follow-up treatment in the community. The plan shall reflect the current local incidence of communicable diseases which threaten the health of incarcerated people and staff.
(b) Consistent with the above plan, the health authority shall, in cooperation with the facility administrator and the county health officer, set forth in writing, policies and procedures in conformance with applicable state and federal law, which include, but are not limited to:
1. New section filed 2-27-91; operative 3-29-91 (Register 91, No. 13).
2. Amendment of section heading, new subsection (a), designation and amendment of first paragraph to subsection (b), and subsection redesignation with amendments filed 8-4-94; operative 9-5-94 (Register 94, No. 31).
3. Amendment of subsection (a) filed 1-26-2017; operative 4-1-2017 (Register 2017, No. 4).
4. Amendment of subsections (a), (b)(3) and (b)(6)-(7) filed 11-17-2022; operative 1-1-2023 (Register 2022, No. 46).
