Section 345.44 - Course Completion Data and Receipt

(a) A traffic violator school shall enter course completion data into the database for each student who completes the course and obtains a passing grade on the exam.

(b) The course completion data is all of the following:

(1) Student's first and last name, as it appears on the California driver license or identification card.

(2) Student's California driver's license number.
(A) If the student does not have a driver's license, the identification card number;

(B) If the student has neither a driver's license nor an identification card issued by the department, the student's birth date.

(3) Court reference number (docket, ticket, citation number or other court provided case specific number).

(4) Court code.

(5) Date of course completion and exam passage.

(6) Modality of instruction (classroom, home study or internet).

(7) If modality was classroom,
(A) City of classroom location;

(B) County code of classroom location;

(C) Name of instructor;

(D) Occupational license number of instructor if instructor is not a credentialed instructor.

(c) A court shall retrieve course completion data from the database.

(d) The course completion data shall be entered into the database no more than three (business) days after the student completes the course and passes the exam.

(e) For any student attending a TVS at the direction of a non-California court or for a non-California violation,

(1) Before allowing a student to attend a TVS course, the TVS shall inform the student the TVS cannot guarantee the non-California court will accept the completion receipt.

(2) The TVS shall provide written evidence of completion to the student and shall not enter course completion data in the database. The completion receipt is written evidence of completion.

(f) The completion receipt shall contain all information listed in subsection (b), and may contain additional items as needed.
