Section 161.04 - Redesign of an Approved Plate Design

(a) After production begins, a plate design for a plate program may be redesigned. Any redesigned plate must meet all design requirements in section 160.04.

(b) The department may allow registered owners who requested the plate prior to the redesign to retain those plates as long as renewal or retention fees are paid as required by the Vehicle Code.

(c) The sponsor of any plate program wherein the plate contains any material that is the subject of a copyright or trademark license shall, no less than 180 days prior to the expiration of the license, either redesign the plate or deliver to the department a valid extension of the license. Failure to comply with this section shall result in the termination of the plate program.
