Section 182.02 - Renewal of a Permanent Disabled Person Placard

(a) A permanent disabled parking placard shall be subject to renewal six years after the first issuance of a placard and every six years thereafter. The department shall send the placard holder a renewal notice by mail prior to the June 30 expiration date of the current placard.

(b) If the renewal notice was not received by the placard holder or is otherwise unavailable, the placard holder shall sign the Disabled Person Identification Card in the top, right corner of the identification card and submit the signed identification card or a copy of the signed identification card in lieu of the renewal notice to the department either by mail or in person at a department field office. The Disabled Person Identification Card is the document received with the parking placard that contains the placard holder's name and address, and the placard information, including the placard number, issuance date and expiration date.

(c) The applicant must sign and mail the bottom portion of the renewal notice to DMV Renewal, P.O. Box 932345, Sacramento, California, 94232.
