Section 2214 - Rate Schedules

(a) Where the rates to be used with a submitted document are required to be filed or approved, they shall be included with the initial submission of the document. The Commissioner will charge a separate fee for action on a rate schedule.

(b) An insurer submitting a revision of previously filed or approved rate schedules shall also submit a cover letter that specifies:

(c) Submissions of increases in previously filed or approved rate schedules which will result in increases in premiums charged to existing insureds shall be made in duplicate. Such submissions shall include copies of the revised rate schedules, but in the alternative, submitters may submit schedules displaying the revised rates to be charged to each California resident affected. Insurers desiring that rate filing supporting material be kept confidential in the Department's files must either physically segregate that material from the rate schedules in a paper filing or file the supporting material as supporting documents in an electronic filing.

(d) Actuarially equivalent or deviated credit life and/or credit disability rates shall be submitted pursuant to any then-current rules of the Commissioner pertaining thereto. In the absence of such rules, submissions of such rates need not specify the form numbers of the documents with which they are to be used, but shall specify the type and amount of the deviation, the class of business, the type of coverage and the name of the creditor or creditors to which the deviated or equivalent rates will apply.
