25.11 STEVE N. WILSON/RAFT CREEK BOTTOMS WMA WATERFOWL HUNTING REQUIREMENTS. It shall be unlawful to take or attempt to take waterfowl on any days other than Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays or Sundays during the waterfowl season on the Steve N. Wilson/Raft Creek Bottoms WMA without first obtaining a free Steve N. Wilson/Raft Creek Bottoms Waterfowl Hunting Permit. This limited permit will be allocated through a daily draw system and is in addition to hunting license requirements as stated in Section 03.00 Licenses. The Steve N. Wilson/Raft Creek Bottoms WMA Hunting Permit must be signed and in possession while hunting on the Steve N. Wilson/Raft Creek Bottoms WMA. Conviction(s) for violation(s) of permit requirements may result in the loss of hunting privileges.

EXCEPTION

(1) Goose hunting is open beginning the Monday following the Youth Waterfowl Hunt in conjunction with statewide seasons and regulations; no permit required.

PENALTY: $100.00 to $1,000.00.

23.02 SPRING TURKEY SEASON RESTRICTIONS ON CERTAIN WMAS. It shall be unlawful to take or attempt to take turkeys during the spring turkey season on the following WMA's other than as specified herein:

QUOTA PERMIT HUNTS: Permit required. Only permit holders will be allowed to engage in any hunting-related activities on areas where a permit is required during quota permit hunts. Limit - one (1) legal turkey. Turkeys must be checked at designated check stations. Other specific regulations are listed below:

(1) Spring turkey season April 5-7, 2003 and April 11-13.2003 on BOIS D'ARC WMA. Ten (10) permits per hunt. BOIS D'ARC WMA will be divided into two compartments for these hunts. Permit holders with odd numbered permits will hunt the West compartment, while permit holders with even numbered permits will hunt the East compartment.

(2) Spring turkey season on CAMP ROBINSON/BELL SLOUGH WMA's. Three 3-day hunts: April 1-3. April 15-17 and April 21-23. 2003. Fifty (50) permits per hunt. Permit holders must also possess a "To Hold Harmless" brochure issued by the National Guard. All areas south of Declination Road and east of Cato Road, south of the pipeline and west of Cato Road, the impact area and the drop zone are closed.

(3) Spring turkey season April 8-10. April 15-17 and April 22-24. 2003 on CUT-OFF CREEK WMA. Twenty-five (25) permits per hunt. Hunting to end at 1:00 p.m. daily on permit hunts.

(4) Spring turkey season April 17-19 and April 24-26. 2003 on FELSENTHAL NWR and BERYL ANTHONY/LOWER OUACHITA WMA. Seventy-five (75) permits per hunt. Permit is good on either WMA or NWR lands. Permits available from Felsenthal NWR, P. O Box 1157, Crossett, AR 71635. Current signed Refuge hunt brochure also required when hunting on Refuge lands.

(5) Spring turkey season April 5-7. April 12-14. April 19-21. April 26-28 and May 3-5. 2003 on HAROLD E. ALEXANDER WMA. Thirty (30) permits per hunt.

(6) Spring turkey season April 19-21. 2003 on HOLLAND BOTTOMS WMA. Fifteen (15) permits per hunt.

(7) Spring turkey season April 5-7, 2003 on LAFAYETTE COUNTY WMA. Fifty (50) permits. Permitee's must possess the Lafayette County WMA Leased Land Permit (LLC) to participate in this hunt.

(8) Spring turkey season April 5-7 and April 18-20.2003 on REX HANCOCK/BLACK SWAMP WMA and CACHE RIVER NWR (all Refuge lands within an area bounded by Hwy. 64 on North, Hwy. 17 on East, Hwy. 38 on South, and Hwy. 33 on West). Twenty (20) permits. Permit is good on either WMA or NWR lands. Current signed Refuge hunt brochure is also required on NWR lands.

(9) Spring turkey season April 5-7, April 12-14, April 19-21 and April 26-28, 2003 on SHIREY BAY/RAINEY BRAKE WMA. Thirty (30) permits per hunt.

(10) Spring turkey season April 5-7 and April 11-13, 2003 on SULPHUR RIVER WMA. Forty (40) permits per hunt.

PRE-SEASON SPECIAL YOUTH PERMIT HUNTS: Special youth hunts will be held on the Wildlife Management Areas specified herein on March 29-30, 2003. Youths (under 16 as of 05-12-2003 ) only; must be accompanied by one un-armed adult. Youths must have successfully completed a hunter education course. Permit required for both youth and adult (Ref. Code 04.08). Only youth and an accompanying adult with appropriate permits will be allowed to engage in any activity other than those related to fishing on the following WMAs during the special youth permit hunts. Limit - one legal turkey. Turkey must be checked at designated check station(s).

(1) BAYOU METO W MA. Twenty-five (25) youth permits.

(2) CUT-OFF CREEK WMA. Twenty-five (25) youth permits. Hunting shall end at 1:00 p.m. daily.

(3) GULF MOUNTAIN WMA. Fifteen (15) youth permits.

(4) HAROLD E. ALEXANDER WMA. Twenty (20) youth permits.

(5) HOLLAND BOTTOMS WMA. Ten (10) youth permits.

(6) LAFAYETTE COUNTY WMA. Fifty (50) youth permits. Permitee's must possess the Lafayette County WMA Leased Land Permit (LLC) to participate in this hunt.

(7) MADISON COUNTY WMA. Twenty-five (25) youth permits.

(8) MUDDY CREEK WMA. Twenty-five (25) youth permits.

(9) NORFORK LAKE WMA. Nine (9) youth permits - three (3) for the Indian Head/Chapin Point Unit, two (2) for the Seward Point Unit, two (2) for the Bennett's Bayou Unit and two (2) for the Fulton County Unit. Successful permitee's must contact U. S. Army Corps of Engineers no later than March 14, 2003 for maps and a hunter survey questionnaire.

(10) PETIT JEAN WMA. Twenty-five (25) youth permits.

(11) REX HANCOCK/BLACK SWAMP and CACHE RIVER NWR (all Refuge lands within an area bounded by Hwy. 64 on North, Hwy. 17 on East, Hwy. 38 on South, and Hwy. 33 on West). Twenty (20) youth permits. Permit is good on either WMA or NWR lands. Current signed Refuge hunt brochure is also required on NWR lands.

(12) ST. FRANCIS FOREST WMA. Twenty-five (25) youth permits.

(13) SULPHUR RIVER WMA. Twenty (20) youth permits.

(14) TRUSTEN HOLDER WMA. Twenty (20) youth permits.

(15) W. E. BREWER/SCATTER CREEK WMA. Permit required, unlimited.

OTHER SPECIAL SEASONS OR RESTRICTIONS: Special restrictions are listed below:

(1) CUT-OFF CREEK WMA. March 31-April 6 and April 25-May 11, 2003. Archery/crossbow only. No permit required for archery hunting during the above periods. Limit - one legal turkey. Turkey must be checked at designated check stations.

(2) FELSENTHAL NWR and BERYL ANTHONY/LOWER OUACHITA WMA. YOUTH HUNT: March 22-23, 2003. Seventy-five (75) youth permits. Limit - one (1) legal turkey. Permit is good on either WMA or NWR lands. Permits available from Felsenthal NWR, P. O. Box 1157, Crossett, AR 71635. Current signed Refuge hunt brochure also required when hunting on Refuge lands. Turkeys must be checked at designated check stations in Ashley, Bradley, and Union counties.

(3) FELSENTHAL NWR and BERYL ANTHONY/LOWER OUACHITA WMA. ARCHERY/CROSSBOW: Same as Turkey Zone 9, except during Refuge/WMA Quota Permit Hunts. Current signed Refuge hunt brochure serves as a permit for archery hunting on Refuge land. Limit - two (2) legal turkeys on archery hunts. Turkeys must be checked at designated check stations in Ashley, Bradley, and Union counties.

(4) HENRY GRAY/HURRICANE LAKE WMA. April 19-20 and April 26-27, 2003. Youth (under 16 as of 05-06-2001 ) only; must be accompanied by one un-armed adult. Youth must have successfully completed a hunter education course. No permit necessary. These hunts will be canceled when the White River gauge at Augusta exceeds 26 feet and will remain closed until the gauge falls to 14 feet or below at Georgetown as recorded in the statewide newspaper (Ref. Code 20.17). Turkeys must be checked at designated check station.

(5) HOLLA BEND NWR. March 29-30 and Six (6) youth permits . Permits available from Holla Bend NWR, Route 1 Box 59, Dardanelle, AR 72834. Turkeys must be checked at area headquarters.

(6) HOLLA BEND NWR. April 5-May 11, 2003. Archery/crossbow only. Refuge permit or fee required. Limit - two (2) legal turkeys. Turkeys must be checked at Refuge Headquarters.

(7) HOLLAND BOTTOMS WMA. April 12-14, 2003. Ten (10) youth permits. Turkeys must be checked at area headquarters.

(8) OVERFLOW NWR. April 5-May 11, 2003. Archery/crossbow only. Current signed Refuge hunt brochure serves as a permit for archery/crossbow hunting. Limit - two (2) legal turkeys.

PENALTY: $200.00 TO $1,000.00. In addition, a jail sentence not to exceed 10 days may be imposed and hunting privileges may be suspended in accordance with Code 11.05, Revocation of Privileges.
