Section R9-7-803 - Enclosed-beam X-ray Systems

A. Enclosed beam x-ray systems are exempt from other equipment requirements contained in this Article provided the enclosed beam x-ray systems are designed and constructed so that radiation levels measured at 5 cm from any accessible surface of the enclosure housing the x-ray source do not exceed 5 µSv (0.5 mrem) in one hour
B. A registrant using enclosed beam x-ray systems shall comply with applicable provisions R9-7-804(A), R9-7-805(B), and 9 A.A.C. 7, Article 4.
C. A person who maintains or services analytical x-ray systems, shall:
1. Obtain
permission in advance from the radiation safety officer before bypassing
interlocks or other safety devices,
2. Label equipment as "out of service" until
maintenance or service is completed,
3. Wear extremity personnel monitoring
devices, and
4. Ensure that
interlocks or other safety devices are operating upon completion of maintenance
or service.
