Section R9-10-519 - Respiratory Care Services

If respiratory care services are authorized to be provided on an ICF/IID's premises, an administrator shall ensure that:
1. Respiratory care services are provided under the direction of an attending physician;
2. Respiratory care services are provided according to an order that includes:
a. The
resident's name;
b. The name and
signature of the ordering individual;
c. The type, frequency, and, if applicable,
duration of treatment;
d. The type
and dosage of medication and diluent; and
e. The oxygen concentration or oxygen liter
flow and method of administration;
3. Respiratory care services provided to a resident are documented in the resident's medical record and include:
a. The date and time of
administration;
b. The type of
respiratory care services provided;
c. The effect of the respiratory care
services;
d. The resident's adverse
reaction to the respiratory care services, if any; and
e. The authentication of the individual
providing the respiratory care services; and
4. Any area or unit that performs blood gases or clinical laboratory tests complies with the requirements in R9-10-518.
