A. A medical assistant may, under the direct supervision of a licensed osteopathic physician , per- form the medical procedures listed in the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Pro grams' Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in Medical Assisting, revised 2003 2008. B. Additionally, a medical assistant working under the direct supervision of an a licensed osteopathic physician may:

1. Perform physical medicine modalities, including administering whirlpool treatments, diathermy treatments, electronic galvanic stimulation treatments, ultrasound therapy, massage therapy, and traction treatments;

2. Apply Transcutaneous Nerve Stimulation units and hot and cold packs;

3. Administer small volume nebulizers.

4. Draw blood;

5. Prepare proper dosages of medication and administer the medication as directed by the physician;

6. Assist in minor surgical procedures;

7. Perform urine analyses, strep screens, and urine pregnancy tests;

8. Perform EKGs; and

9. Take vital signs.
