7 AAC 100.304 - Eligibility for postpartum Medicaid coverage

(a) A pregnant woman who was eligible for and receiving Medicaid coverage under any eligibility category on the last day of pregnancy, including eligibility approved under 7 AAC 100.072, is eligible for postpartum coverage under AS 47.07.020(o).

(b) A woman eligible for postpartum coverage under this section is not required to meet the medical support assignment requirements in 7 AAC 100.040.

(c) A pregnant woman who applied for Medicaid before the date her pregnancy ended and who is subsequently found eligible for Medicaid, even if the eligibility determination is not made until after the date her pregnancy ended, will be considered to have been receiving Medicaid for the purposes of (a) of this section.

(d) Except as provided in (c) of this section, the department will not grant retroactive eligibility under this section.

(e) Coverage under this section continues through the last day of the month in which the woman's postpartum period ends, without regard to any change in income that may occur.
