7 AAC 72.165 - Transfer of patients between designated facilities

An already committed patient may not be transferred from a designated evaluation or treatment facility to another designated facility or to a state-operated hospital, unless
(1) a mental health professional
(A) determines that the transfer is in the
best treatment interests of the patient;
(B) obtains, before the transfer,
certification from the patient's attending physician that the patient is
medically stable; and
(C) contacts
authorized admitting personnel at the receiving facility or hospital, and
explains why the patient's mental condition or behavior necessitates transfer
to another facility or hospital; and
(2) the administrator of the facility proposing the transfer obtains, before the transfer, permission from the administrator at the receiving facility or hospital to transfer the patient.
