7 AAC 48.040 - Residence of applicant

(a) An applicant must be a resident of the state. A "resident" is a person who is living in the state voluntarily with the intention of making the state the person's home and who is not living in the state for a temporary purpose.

(b) A person demonstrates the intent required by (a) of this section by

(1) maintaining a principal place of abode in the state for at least 30 days; and

(2) providing other proof of intent, which at the discretion of the committee may include
(A) evidence that the person is not claiming residence outside the state or obtaining benefits under a claim of residence outside the state;

(B) an Alaska driver's license;

(C) an Alaska vehicle registration;

(D) an Alaska voter registration;

(E) a resident fishing, hunting, or trapping license; and

(F) other evidence acceptable to the committee.

(c) A person who establishes residence in the state remains a resident during an absence from the state unless during the absence the person establishes or claims residence in another state, territory, or country, or performs other acts or is absent under circumstances that are inconsistent with the intent required by (a) of this section.
