7 AAC 26.662 - Medical directors of paramedic training courses

(a) A person may serve as the medical director of a paramedic training course only if the person
(1) is licensed under AS 08.64 to practice
medicine in this state;
(2) holds a
temporary permit as a physician applicant under
AS
08.64.270; or
(3)is authorized to practice medicine in this
state under an exemption set out in
AS
08.64.370(1) or
(4).
(b) The medical director of a paramedic training course is responsible for
(1)
reviewing all components of the paramedic training course to ensure that
instructional accuracy is maintained;
(2) assisting with the selection of course
faculty in conjunction with the course coordinator;
(3) reviewing the progress of each student to
ensure that instructional goals are being met and that demonstration of
competence is occurring before the student is put into a patient care setting;
and
(4) acting as haison to
hospitals and pre-hospital emergency medical services participating in the
paramedic training course.
