(a) During an industrial radiographic operation, direct surveillance must be maintained to protect against unauthorized entry into the ionizing radiation area, except where the area is locked to protect against unauthorized or accidental entry.
(b) An x-ray machine used in industrial radiography must have a locking mechanism designed to prevent unauthorized use and must be kept locked at all times, except when
(1) under the direct surveillance of a
radiographer or radiographer's assistant; or
(2) the area is locked to protect against
unauthorized or accidental entry.
(c) When stored, an industrial radiographic x-ray machine must be physically secured to prevent tampering or removal by an unauthorized individual.
