(a) For each individual who operates a device as an industrial radiographer, the registrant shall maintain a record of all training and educational programs attended by each radiographer. The record for each operator must identify the
(1) trainer, or training organization, and
the training method;
(2) dates of
the training;
(3) subjects included
in the training curriculum; and
(4)
test or certification that establishes that the training was
completed.
(b) The minimum acceptable training curriculum for an industrial radiographer must include
(1) fundamentals of radiation safety,
including the
(A) characteristics of gamma and
x-radiation;
(B) units of ionizing
radiation dose and quantity of radioactivity;
(C) hazards of excessive exposure to ionizing
radiation; and
(D) methods of
controlling ionizing radiation dose with time, distance, and
shielding;
(2)
instruction about the use of personnel monitoring equipment;
(3) operation and control of the radiographic
equipment to be used;
(4) the
requirements of applicable federal and state regulations; and
(5) the registrant's written operating and
emergency procedures.
