7 AAC 12.160 - Psychiatric service

(a) If a hospital has a psychiatric service, the psychiatric service must adopt a policy which provides for regular in-service training of the staff in methods of care for persons who are mentally ill.

(b) Standards for the care of persons who are mentally ill must be developed by mental health professionals, approved by the medical staff, and be made readily available to patient care personnel.

(c) Beginning January 1, 1995, a hospital that is not a specialized hospital as described in 7 AAC 12.200 must meet the requirements of 7 AAC 12.215(b) - (g) if it offers inpatient psychiatric services in addition to those needed to provide a 72 evaluation under AS 47.30.700-47.30.915.
