7 AAC 05.370 - Person responsible for filing

When a birth occurs in an institution, the person in charge of the institution shall be responsible for seeing that the certificate is prepared, signed, and filed with the local registrar. When a birth occurs outside an institution, the following shall be the order of responsibility for preparing and filing the certificate:

(1) physician in attendance;

(2) nurse in attendance;

(3) sub-registrar of a village, if any;

(4) midwife or any other person in attendance;

(5) father or mother; and

(6) person in charge of the premises where the birth occurred. If none of the above are available or able to file the certificate, the local registrar shall file it himself from the best information available.
