The State Registrar shall, within the limits of existing laws and the conditions peculiar to Alaska, develop the best possible system of vital statistics for Alaska, taking into account the desirability of uniformity with other states, standards and procedures developed elsewhere, and cooperative relations with other state and national offices responsible for vital statistics records.
