6 AAC 25.690 - Official election pamphlet material from candidates for elected office

(a) The lieutenant governor will publish an election pamphlet containing information about candidates running for elected office. This information will be gathered from candidate responses to a questionnaire prepared by the division.
(b) A candidate for elected office under AS 15.25.030 may provide the division with biographical information of not more than 150 words, and a candidate's advocacy statement of not more than 250 words, for inclusion in the election pamphlet. All information to be published in the election pamphlet must be received by the division no later than July 22 of an election year, except that information to be published in the election pamphlet by a candidate for the offices of United States President and Vice President must be received no later than August 30 of a presidential election year. A candidate may not make a change to the candidate's biographical information or advocacy statement after the deadline. A candidate's advocacy statement must be submitted typewritten or transmitted electronically. An article such as "a", "and", and "the" will be counted as one word. Any words included in the biographical information or candidate's advocacy statement beyond the allowed word counts will not be published.
(c) A candidate may submit any of the candidate's following biographical information to be included in the election pamphlet:
(d) For purposes of a candidate's advocacy statement, a candidate may include comments about the candidate in the following areas:
(e) At the time of filing material for the official election pamphlet, full payment is required for charges set out in AS 15.58.060. If payment is made by check or credit card and the check is returned for not sufficient funds or the credit card is denied, payment has not been made as set out in AS 15.58.060 and the candidate's filed material will not be included in the official election pamphlet.
(f) If a candidate filed material for the official election pamphlet but was untimely received by the director, or the candidate's name will not appear on the general election ballot, the director will refund payment made under AS 15.58.060. The director will refund payment under this subsection beginning 15 days after the date of the general election.
