6 AAC 25.520 - Voter who changes name

(a) A voter whose name has been changed by marriage or court order, and who wishes to vote under the new name, but who has not reregistered under the new name at least 30 days before the election in which the voter seeks to vote, may vote

(1) a questioned ballot at the voter's polling place on election day; or

(2) an absentee ballot
(A) in person through an absentee voting official or at an absentee voting station under AS 15.20.061;

(B) by mail or electronic transmission under AS 15.20.081; or

(C) through a representative under AS 15.20.072.

(b) If the voter votes under the new name, failure to provide the previous name under which the voter was formerly registered, will not cause the ballot to be rejected if other information provided on the oath and affidavit envelope is sufficient to identify the voter and verify the voter's eligibility.
